MSI Radeon RX 570 Armor OC - is it a hot card?

So I bought an MSI RX 570 Armor OC for $80 CAD (including shipping and taxes).  Would've gone for an RX 560 or something else but it's hard to find cheaper ones on eBay.

Is it a hot card & can it be left running on a computer without worrying about heat generation?

I only bought this to replace my dad's V4900 as I gave him my 4K monitor, and it was too much for it. He doesn't game, and mainly browses the web & listens to music.

His PC has a 2nd gen i5-2400 (essentially a rebuilt OptiPlex 790) running on Ubuntu LTS.

How restrictive are you for heat? I've got a 480 reference card (XFX OC *gamer Marketing lingo*) and on effectively idle it sits at about 20W while doing desktop stuff.

The PC is in the master bedroom.

It is also acts as a NAS for my mom, so i don't make it sleep.

Forgot to mention that it's on Ubuntu (if that helps)

If it's just doing that stuff, it really shouldn't be an issue, those cards are usually 120-130w MAX tdp, and on idle is going to make almost no sound and pump very little heat. I have a p600 folding RN in my HTPC at 5k rpm on the little fan and I can only hear it if the HVAC is off and even then it's only slightly louder than my tinnitus.

Thanks so much for your insight 🙂
