I'm thinking of getting an SSD to dedicate to windows since I've been having some issues and think it has to do with my current SSD. is this a good idea and if so, what should I get?

11th gen intel i7 11700k
32 gb ram corsair rgb
rtx 3070ti
TUF gaming z590-plus wifi (dont use wifi)

There are so many inexpensive, good quality SSD's which would be perfect for running Windows. Not sure of your budget, but based on your set up, I assume $65 won't break the bank. If you're looking for NVME, a Samsung 500GB 980 is right about that price. It would provide more space than you would need, maybe give some extra storage and the speeds are quite nice.

Intel Core i7-11700K || Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti || 1TB Corsair MP600 PRO XT & 2TB Samsung 980 Pro || Adata DDR4 3200 4x8GB || Asrock Z590-C/ac

A cacheless NVME drive is not great for an OS, and performance won't be consistent even if it's pcie 4.

Spend $5 more and get a Samsung 970 Evo Plus with 1TB. Don't just take my word for it because I have a 1 and 2TB of the same model - See the random read/write benchmarks for yourself.

Will that small amount of difference be perceptible? As in noticeable? And thanks for the link, looks like I should be shopping on Partpicker over Amazon, prices are even better - but the 970 is a fair bit more expensive over the 980 ($20 more)

Yes for random/small files write, the difference is 10x, and reads is 3x. This will be noticible with Windows and any other program that loads many or smaller files.

For sequential write, it depends on how long the writes are for. Only the difference in sequential reads is negligible.

Head to head comparison here.

Ah, got it, I was looking at the front page of your link which didn't show those comparisons. But yea, quite a large difference in the head to head. Not sure why the numbers in the image below show Random Read Throughput at 461MB/s for the 980 Pro but the head to head shows a drastic difference.
