How much newer can I go?

you could go current gen (like 40 series 4060) but it isn't that good so I'd get a 6700 xt ASRock Radeon RX6700XT CLD 12G Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 GB Video Card (RX6700XT CLD 12G) - PCPartPicker

though it might be cutting a bit on this psu. Which psu is it specifically?

If you prefer nvidia then get a 4060, though I wouldn't recommend getting one

But you could get a used 6700 xt for $240 AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB GDDR6 Graphics Card 727419312905 | eBay

And then a new psu for a good price + good wattage EVGA 650BP 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (100-BP-0650-K1) - PCPartPicker

Budget (including currency): $200-300 USD

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: WoW, Diablo 4, Starfield, dual monitors

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Asus ROG Strix
AMD Ryzen 5 3400G 3.70 Ghz
16 GB DDR4

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 4 GB
Power 500w
Motherboard AMD B450

Advice on upgrading GPU.  Computer has worked well. Couple years old.  Starfield causing the most problems (lag, stuttering).  Does it pay to upgrade the GPU with an older CPU? How much newer can I go? Pricing 3060s but not sure if it would help performance with the older CPU.

Send pics of the psu alongside wattage table

Youll need to upgrade the cpu aswell as the 3400g is just weak, maybe you can resell it for abit of cash. Used 3600(x) go for around 50-60$ and used 5600(x) go for around 80-100$, ill just assume youll pick the former and do a simple 4.5/4.6g allcore oc

With the remaining budget think you can get a used 6600xt or 5700xt, maybe even a used 3070

If the psu needs an upgrade also buy used cause cheap new psus are trash and you can buy much better quality 750/850w gold units like the rm(x) or equivalent for like 40-60$ used, cheaper units for like 10-20$ do exist but need validation so if you do end up needing a psu upgrade and budget isnt enough for a high end used psu just send some pics of deals here for me to validate quality since i do have 3 good used units all <20$ and they all work fine
