CPU/Motherboard Reliability

Do freshly released processors/motherboards typically have reliability/compatibility issues on release? I'm considering waiting for the next-gen of intel processors for my workstation and am wondering if this is a significant factor to consider. Seeing as how it's just a refresh of the current gen I would assume they would be fine. The same goes for motherboards like the newly released Aorus series from Gigabyte.

When there are new versions of DDR, yes, it takes maybe 6-12 months to get compatibility in a good place. Otherwise, not so much.
