Suggestion for 3600mhz on a 320 motherboard

cj1111_rkc

I would like to get some suggestions for my system:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600

GPU: Nvidia RTX 2060

RAM: Core 2 Avexir 3200mhz (2x8gb) and ripjaws V 3600mhz 32gb 3600mhz(16x2gb)

MBD: Gigabyte GA-A320M-S2H-CF

I recently bought a cheaper ripjaws V 3600mhz 32gb 3600mhz (16x2gb) as an upgrade for my system.

I'm using a Core 2 Avexir 3200mhz (2x8gb) ram on an a320 and ryzen 5 2600. When I use the ripjaws V 3600mhz 32gb 3600mhz(16x2gb), some apps close by themselves and one time, even crashed.

It only has 1 xmp at 3600mhz so either cl19 2666mhz or disable at cl18 3600mhz, no in between.

Sadly, the online reseller won't approve my return/refund when I got it yesterday. I would like my system to be 24gb of ram at least for my workload.

I forgot the Windows key I used so I would rather not buy another motherboard if possible and would not overclock anyway.

Should I:

  1. Disable the xmp and run at 2666mhz cl19 using the ripjaws V 3600mhz 32gb cl18 3600mhz (16x2gb).

  2. Mix my 8gb 3200mhz and 16gb 3600mhz and hope both of them runs at 3200mhz cl16 24gb(8+16)

  3. Find a way to change the xmp setting to 3200mhz cl16. I doubt this is possible for an GA-A320M-S2H-CF

  4. upgrade my CPU to ryzen 5 5600 (on an a320 mobo upgraded bios) and hope everything is fine at 3600mhz.

Thanks in advance for any tips on this one.

1. This can be a last case option.

2. It SHOULD run at 3200mhz, though 8+16 is weird mix.

3. I don't think it is considered XMP when you manually set the voltages and timing but I could be mistaken. This SHOULD be possible, maybe find someone in the ram subforum and see if they can help?

4. R5 5600 worked perfectly fine on my wifes a320 mobo when I upgraded her 2600. I think you should if you get a good deal, though I don't think this will solve your ram issues though until you figure out timings.

You can run a powershell command to get windows key.

Im tempted to run the 8+16 config but will it damper the overall PC performance? A big thanks for the tips btw

I also heard, 5600 can handle 3600mhz ram. I wonder if that could also possible on an a320mobo

I am pretty sure it will work fine but if you go over 16 gb you might have some slow down because anything after 16 gb will effectively be single channel.
