Installed new SSD, no POST?

Hi, all --

 

Late 2019 Dell XPS 8930.  Tried to swap out a 2GB SSD for a 4GB SSD.

 

Cloned the old SSD to the new SSD, removed the old SSD, and re-lettered the new SSD to match the old one - also extended the volume to fill out the rest of the SSD.  Tried to restart with no luck.  Put the old SSD back in, restarts fine.  Tried to have the computer reboot into Safe Mode so I could figure out what was going on, and no luck. Swapped out the configs (old SSD-new SSD / old SSD only / new SSD only), nothing.

 

This may either be helpful or a red herring -- the last time I rebooted the machine (and even after I plugged the new SSD in to begin the cloning process) - the machine didn't boot up showing the DELL logo and the F2/F12 options for setup and BIOS.  I did poke around in the BIOS while installing the new SSD, because I was trying to determine if I needed to do something in there for the installation.  

 

All the connections should be good - I haven't moved the machine since it was last up and running.  I did open the side hatch to make sure the fans were spinning freely, and they seem to be good to go.  (After I installed the SSD, I did get a BIOS error about the fan, because one of my cables was blocking it.)

 

Created a USB recovery drive from the DELL software, and it won't boot to that.  There should also be a recovery method on a PCIe SSD in the machine, but no go there, either.  Tried rebooting with everything but the monitor unplugged, no luck.  Tried rebooting with no SSD at all (hoping it would boot up to the recovery PCIe), no good.

 

Ran through the pinned checklist and everything appears to be OK on that front.
