Blank screen after driver update

Go to solution Solved by BankHealthy,

Try force rebooting and see what happens.

So i just tried installing a bunch updates from the software manager on linux mint, and then the screen just went blank, my guess is that it's something to do with nvidia driver or something, don't remember exactly, can I just hold down the power button to shut it down? Or what else can I do

Idk how was I supposed to do that, since the screen was just blank, but holding down the power button worked for me

Yes. That was the only way to do it. Did it work after the reboot?

Yeah this would of been the nvidia driver causing this. I've noticed the past few times I've updated my nvidia drivers on ubuntu it's caused my screens to go blank and I have to force restart it. I usually wait for like 5-10mins after the screens go blank before I force restart it just in case other updates were installing because I'm sometime paranoid lol
