Budget (including currency): 600€

Country: Croatia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Baldurs Gate 3,Monster Hunter Rise, New Space Marine Game, TFT, Apex

Other details : Current build is Ryzen 5 1600, MSI gtx 1060 6gb, and 16gb of ram, Msi b350 tomahawk mb. The build is 6 years old now and I got a new 1440p monitor so Im looking for some upgrades. Long story short most reviews Ive seen online recommend RX 6700XT plus Ryzen 5600/x.

I cant find out if the motherboard can support the newer GPU, also I've found a rx 6800 for 340€ but its preowned, so I need some help and tips regarding the upgrades:
1. Do I need to buy a new motherboard something like a B550 or I can wait a month and not bottleneck to much.

2. Is it worth to buy a used 6800 over a 6700xt if the price diff is around 40€.

3. My goal is playing games at 1440p at 60+ fps at higher quality, so will get upgrades achive that.

Thank you for any help in advance I havent been around the Pc Build community for few years now so I appreciate any help.

If the CPU is in the support list, just update the BIOS and you're good to go.

I would take the warranty, if I were you.

Sounds good, will get you to 1440p/60.

No problem, but when you update the BIOS for the CPU then it might help with compatibility, if there are/were any known issues.

Just update the Bios first. Then you can upgrade the rest.

Ryzen 5700X https://www.nabava.net/search.php?q=Ryzen+5700X

or Ryzen 5600 https://www.nabava.net/procesori?q=ryzen+5600 (but not the 5600G!).

Radeon 6700XT https://www.nabava.net/search.php?q=radeon+6700+XT

The 6750XT is a lot pricier there (Croatia) which makes no sense since those are 6700XT with a tiny bit faster RAM.

A used 6800 is fine IF it still has a year of warranty or more.

Forgot to ask, which PSU do you have? And Which CPU cooler?

Most important thing first - you motherboard DOESN'T support Ryzen 5000 CPUs. That B350 mobo you have supports only Ryzen 1000 and 2000 CPUs. Some could've been made to work with Ryzen 5000, but it's not worth the effort and the onslaught of issues after that. You can easily find a good used B550 board for less than €80 and it will work just fine. But you might also want to change the ram as well.

Regarding the GPU - 6800 non-XT for €340 is way too much money. I bought my 6900XT for less than €500 half a year ago, still with 18 more months of warranty and prices have been going steadily down. If you can negotiate a price of €250-280, it's perfect price for the 6800 non-XT. Then you should go for it. It's worth the upgrade over 6750XT. But €300-€400 is the price range of the 6800XT GPUs and €400-€500 is for 6900XTs. As for advices on what to look for - just check if it was kept clean. No solid dust build up on the fans, no burn marks on the back of the PCB if you can take a look at it. On the backplate there usually are stickers over at least 2 of the screws - if those are still there, that means this GPU hasn't been disassembled, which is a good thing, because many people simply open them, ripping the thermal pads, put on a new paste and simply close it back together w/o changing the pads.

I think it used to be like this, but as far as I know, B350/X370 can run Ryzen 5000 CPUs fine now, there's lots of posters on reddit and other places that are running them successfully. The OP's board appears to have had Zen 3 support since July 2022.

I think the PSU is Corsair RM 650W and I used a CPU that came with the Ryzen think its the wraith one.
