Hi all

So I am facing a weird issue. My old PC has a GTX 1070 paired with a i5 7600k on an MSI Z270.

One fine day the machine gave up on me. Issue was no display post bios logo display. I checked all components but no joy.

Recently, while troubleshooting, I noticed that the bios splash screen is being displayed in a low resolution and it just turns on into a black screen.

Reformatted the pc thinking maybe windows is corrupted. Windows installation process completes without the native monitor resolution but again no display when the windows starts to boot.

I unplugged my graphics card and reformatted again. Now the pc is working fine on cpu and motherboard graphics connection. Tried reflashing the bios but the flash mode doesn't start.

So I am confused that is the GPU card dead or is something wrong with the motherboard.

EZ debug LEDs do not show any error on the motherboard.

Any suggestions?

Seems that GTX 1070 is biting a dust

Since your CPU (i5-7600K) has integrated graphics, have you tried on connecting your display through your motherboard (either via HDMI or DVI-D)?

If it turns on without any issue, it definitely means there's an issue on your GPU

Yes, the PC is running fine on integrated graphics. It was a bit wierd that the GPU output works for win installation screen and bios splash screen but does when windows tries to boot.

At least that confirms GPU is the root cause problem

Perhaps there's some driver issue

Try to DDU of your GPU and do clean re-install

You can also update your motherboard's BIOS just in case
