Yes

Hello.

In need of some help as I feel I am being dumb.

Just made newest build in a while and need some help on fans.

Got a 5000D case which comes with a fan hub and I also have a commander core. Have 7 fans in total. 3 front intake 3 top radiator and 1 rear exhaust.

I want to be able to control all my fans via iCue but currently only able to do so on 4.

Have my 3 radiator fans plugged into the 5000D hub which is then plugged into the CPU fan header. Rest of the fans are connected to the commander.

Am I being stupid here? Is it OK to not have any fans connected to CPU fan header and instead connect the case hub to the commander?

Thanks in advance.

CPU - i7 8700K / Motherboard - ROG Strix Z370 E/ RAM - 32GB Cosair Vengeance DDR / GPU  - GTX 1080ti - EVGA FTW3 / PSU - Seasonic Snow Silent 750W / Cooling - Cryorig H7 Monitor - Acer X34 Predator / Sound - Corsair Void - Case - Meshify C

are all of the fans controllable. I might be being dumb here but on my core xt with 6 fans in it and 2 more in the mother board only the 3 high end light loops are controllable for me.

It's fine to not plug anything into the CPU fan header, but just make sure that your fans aren't running on low speeds. Also, it should be ok to daisy chain the hubs as it is only one fan more than the commander has ports, usually the hubs have some power headroom.

If you notice temperature problems for the rad fans, consider changing your config.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂
