i currntly use a old trash brand G41 board and i really need a upgrade and i have a parts list i picked for real cheep
the cpu is a i5 6500, DDR4 8x2 @1600hz and a Esonic H110(Current specs:Core 2 duo E8400 which cant hit 100%, DDR3 2x2 @600hz, some trash G41 jetway board, GT710 2GB, some offbrand PSU)

now yes i know the cpu is old but the tasks i do so the latest fastest cpu i can get later down the line is the i7-7700k(or non k) and that is good enough for me as i already checked out some bench marks on i5 6500 and they are already really promissing to me
now the main problem in running into is that i dont know what psu to use i wont need more then 450 watts for this build so can anyone recommand me good psu?
i was orginaly looking at the EVGA 600BR but its alot of over head and kinda expensive so i need something a little on the chipper side
i was also woundering if i can just rock my current old some off brand PSU because the i5 6500 uses the same amount of power as my core 2 duo E8400 and ram wont have much difference and i will reuse my GT710 for some time and since the GT710 will bottle neck the i5 by ALOT i should be fine by using the old psu and upgradeing the psu before anything else after i get the motherboard, cpu and ram

thoughts?

A PSU from the Core 2 Duo era might not support the changes that were made around Haswell with low power idle/states. I have an old PSU and with a skylake board it cuts out unless I install a sound card. You'd also to make sure it has the right connectors for the motherboard, 4 or 8 pin (EPS12v) and 24 pin for the motherboard.

How much is the EVGA 600BR? What is your budget?

I've never heard of them.

I'm not familiar with most of the brands in the USA (I don't live there).

Having a look on pcpartpicker, let's see.

Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 650 is $102, review here of 850 version.

RM750e is $99.99, review here of the 1000 watt (2023) version.

MSI A650GF is $89.99, review here.

Other than those, I'm out of ideas.

I'd happily recommend you something at 350, but all the PSUs I can find between 350 and 550 are either junk (bad reputation, short warranty, poor quality components), or from brands I've never heard of (...so also likely to be junk).

I used to recommend Seasonic's Core GC-500 for 'cheap' builds, but I think they're out of production.
