Hello,

the system described below keeps crashing with a Video TDR failure nvlddmkm.sys. I've tried SFC, driver updates, troubleshooting in advanced startup, etc, to no avail.

  • ASRock Z97 Extreme4
  • Intel i7-4790k (Haswell)
  • Corsair Vengeance 8gb DDR3 RAM stick x2
  • Asus GeForce GTX660-DC2O-2GD5
  • TP-Link WiFi 6 AX3000 PCIe
  • Fractal ARC Midi R2
  • Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB 2.5 (Boot drive)
  • LG WH16NS40 (Blu-ray)
  • Asus Xonar Dsx
  • CoolerMaster Seidon 120V
  • EVGA Supernova 750 G2

Does anyone know of any additional troubleshooting steps?

Thanks!

Sam

Well, seeing dumps of BSoDs would be nice in the first place. BlueScreenView to the rescue.

I'd also suggest DDUing your GPU drivers and reinstalling them using NVCleanStall (that way you can minimize potential problems by installing what's necessary, and that is first 4 things, not to mention cutting out telemetry and applying expert tweaks easily).

Purify your Windows 10/11, don't give Microsoft anything that you don't want to share.

I DDUd and did and NVCleanStall. Please see pics below.

Try getting BSOD dumps and post them here. And test your GPU in another system. If issue persists, you might have defective GPU...

Video_TDR_Failure is often a faulty GPU. Looking at the top screenshot it also screams faulty GPU. You could try taking it apart and cleaning it, reapply thermal paste and replace any thermal pads if it has them. More worried about the VRAM than the core though with that screenshot.

use IGPU until you get a new GPU.. but i would recommend upgrading the whole thing. my intervals are ca 5 year pr system. with a gpu upgrade in between.

Check out the thread below if you can help.
