Radio scanner

I want to buy a police scanner but I'm not sure what to look for. Im in New Zealand. I dont want a super expensive one. Im currently looking at the uniden SR30C Bearcat on amazon. Any radio experts around to help?

Most emergency services use encrypted digital services these days, I am sure NZ is the same as most places. So it's pointless as you won't hear much.

It's only encrypted in the big cities. In my region they're still using analogue
