Gpu not displaying on screen

When i boot up without the gpu it seams to show but no display as its amd so without the gpu i cant tell, but when i insert the gpu and attach the hdmi ect, it then doesn't seam to boot(normally the keyboard would then show colour) the gpu was working fine and before it, it was showing grey lines on the screen and then the pc would shut down 

 

GPU is r9 280 3gb gddr5 with boost
