Do You Debloat Windows & How?

  1. 1. Method:

    • I Don't Debloat
    • PowerShell
    • Just Uninstall Stuff
    • A Utility
    • My Own Utility

    • Custom ISO

for windows 11, i've done a mixture of things

- i finally bothered with custom ISO, just because the tools exist (thanks tiny11 guy, you were actually useful even though your product sucks.)

- i have some crude forms of automation for some things (powershell, reg files, nothing fancy)

- ever since windows 10 happened i have a "procedure" that i just run trough to configure things i enjoy.

- there's a bunch of "standard uninstallations" and standard software.

I'm interested in the topic. If anyone would share what use and why, I'd personally glad to read any opinion.

Thanks.

Not English-speaking person, sorry, I'll make mistakes. If you're kind, maybe you'll be able to understand.

If you're really kind, you'll nicely point that out so I will learn more about write in good English.  🙂

Windows 10 ltsc iso

Literaly a search away and you can install pre debloated windows that even has longer support, i have one as a secondary testing os for my testbench (primary os being w7 ultimate), kinda curious if theres still bloat to get rid of on w10 ltsc

I would not calling it debloat but i make some tweaks in the "autostart" file and Windows update and such. I don't think there is much bloat, is it? Or is it different depending on the edition, i only use 10 and 11 pro on my machines and have acually never used a "home" edition machine.

So, this topic is about Debloating Windows and I created this page on LTT forums so here's what I do for debloating and setting up Windows

- Normal Windows 11 ISO From Microsoft

- My Debloat PowerShell Script (all it does is uninstalling MS Store packages)

- My Other PowerShell script which installs all my programs through winget aka Windows package manager

- Stock Start Menu

-  A REG tweak that restores old right click menu from Windows 10

- A REG tweak that restores the old Windows Photo Viewer from Windows 7

- Disable all privacy/telemetry settings

- Run ShutUp10++ by O&O Software (It also works on Windows 11 that's why it has the '++')

- Disable Delivery Optimization

- Change Active Hours To 7:00AM to 10:00PM so no updates during day

- Disable 'Get Me Up To Date' which will install every update and restart as soon as possible even in active hours

- Disable 'Notify Me When A Restart Is Required To Finish Updating'

- Turn Off 'Download Updates Over Metered Connections'

- Turn Off 'Receive Updates For Other Microsoft Products'

- Hide Search Box/Bar From Taskbar

- Hide And Uninstall Teams Icon From Taskbar

- Hide Task View from Taskbar

- Turn Off Widgets

- Move Taskbar Back to Left

- Use Local Account

- Turn Off All Notifications

- Turn Off Update Notifications

- Turn Off Tips On Lock Screen

- Turn Off 'Show Recently Added Apps'

- Turn Off 'Show Most Used Apps'

- Turn Off 'Show Recommendations for Tips, Shortcuts, New Apps, and more'

- Turn Off 'Show Recently Opened Items in Start, Jump Lists, and File Explorer'

- Show File Extensions

- Show Hidden Items

- Make System Tray Clock 24 Hour AND NOT 12 Hour

- Unpin All The Junk Like Edge and Microsoft Store From The Taskbar & Start Menu

You Get The Idea, I Go Crazy With Debloating and Making Windows Exactly How I Want It.
