Does the MSI MPG B650 EDGE WIFI Mobo need a bios flashback for the ryzen 7800x3d. I cant seem to get the flashback to work using a 32 gb usb drive after following all instructions. Was wondering if it already has the latest BIOS version. Building a new PC so wanted to know before i commit to the assembly process before a successfull flash.

Thanks.

Yes and no. It will boot up with all BIOS revisions, but you want to be on the latest BIOS to make suer you don't have any of the SOC voltage issues.

If you're having issues with it though, I'd want to make sure you're upgraded before fully built, though at least put the CPU in and do the BIOS update through the GUI rather than BIOS Flashback.

Well i will need to do most of the build then right. Using an AIO. will have to hook that up and put the ram sticks and m.2 in. Only thing I can avoid then is the GPU and case fans. Well as long as it boots without a bios flash I am happy. Ill definately update the bios once it boots. This flashback thing was giving me issues and I just hope I havent messed the board up now.

It might just be that the board was picky about what flash drive it uses for BIOS flashback, it wasn't formatted quite right, or maybe you grabbed the BIOS for the ITX board instead (MSI has two boards named Edge, so if you were half asleep when downloading the BIOS update you could've easily gotten the wrong one, I've done it before and spent 3 hours trying to figure out why the BIOS wouldn't update). Either way, doing the BIOS update through the GUI will at least give you a bit more info as to what's going on, and with my experience updating boards with BIOS Flashback, doing it with a CPU installed is usually quite a bit faster anyway (takes 2 minutes rather than 5-6).

I was using a 32 gig usb flash drive. Formated it once before i put the bios file in it. Did not work. Did some troubleshooting, found a way to reset the flash drive to factory settings and then reformat through command promt. Still did not work. Could be a Flash drive issue.....maybe need a smaller one. But weirdly my symptoms dont align with anyone elses. My white light blinks 3 times and then just stops and my PSU fan makes a small noise twice with a 2 second delay...like its trying to start up but failing. And yes I have the right bios version for my mobo...checked that thrice lol.

I do know some boards just hate certain flash drives for whatever reason. It's more common with EVGA boards than MSI from what I've seen, but it's not impossible for this board to just not want to work with that particular flash drive for whatever reason no matter what you do.

That's a weird issue though.
