New pc build help needed

When I turned on the power button on my power supply my motherboards logo lit up but no other component turned on.

Apologies if this sounds stupid or you already figured this out, but given you are new to this and how you describe it I thought I clarify:

The power button on the power supply just connects the power supply to the AC outlet from the wall. Think of it like an internal power brick with one of those switches. It does not, however, turn on the computer.

It being on means the power supply is getting AC power and also starts to supply probably standby voltage to the MoBo. On newly build machines this often also lights up the LEDs etc., I suspect because the controllers and stuff are not properly initialized.

What turns on the PC is a button on the case, usually top or front mounted. It is wired via small, annoying wire bundle to the "front panel header" on the MoBo. Basically it just connects to pins on the motherboard when pressed. This tells the MoBo to start delivering power to all the components and start the actual machine proper.

For whatever reason front panel headers and connectors are still an absolute pain to connect and even seasoned builders struggle at times or get it backwards/mixed up.

TL;DR: make sure you actually pushed the real power button or wired up your front panel header correctly.

First time pc builder here. I just finished my build but it will not post. When I turned on the power button on my power supply my motherboards logo lit up but no other component turned on. Fans didn't spin up, no RGB, AIO didn't turn on, and the error code LEDS on the motherboard that are supposed to tell me what the error is also didn't light up. I've reconnected my cables and made sure they were fully plugged in however that did not fix the issue. I also made sure that my HDMI cable was plugged into the proper port on my graphics card. Where should I go from here?

CPU: AMD 7900x
Motherboard: ASUS B650E-F
Ram: 64 GB 5600 (2x32) G.skill
PSU: Corsair RM1000x
GPU: Powercolor Red Devil 7900XTX

Hmm this probably sounds stupid but... did you press the power button?

The power supply and the actual motherboard don't share a single switch/button. And lights working on the motherboard shows that it *is* receiving sufficient power but doesn't necessarily indicate that it is turned on.

There should be a button on your PC tower to turn on your motherboard. If you don't have a button or you didn't wire it yet, you can jump the BTN+ and BTN- pins on your motherboard like this:

(Of course the names of the pins vary by motherboard)
