Antivirus

Go to solution Solved by Pavlidis,

I was a beta tester, well I think that you have to find that it fits your needs when it comes to Protection.

The best free that I have seen around and tested with a lot of viruses is  Malwarebytes.

The Microsoft "solution" here isn't really good at all when It comes to Virus Database Updates.

Avast Is very good and well made software but It is not very effective.

The best paid software that I have used in the past and currently using  is Kaspersky Internet Security 2014.

Hope I helped

I'll second Avast, another good one is AVG Free, make sure to use the free version and not the trial if you get that.

Case: Meatbag, humanoid - APU: Human Brain version 1.53 (stock clock) - Storage: 100TB SND (Squishy Neuron Drive) - PSU: a combined 500W of Mitochondrial cells - Optical Drives: 2 Oculi, with corrective lenses.

is Norton a good antivirus?

Many people here, myself included, consider Norton no better than the malware that infects your system. It's bloated, wastes resources and gives more false positives than anything else..plus you are paying for the inconvenience.

There are 3 main choices, all of which are free. Avast, Microsoft Security Essentials or no anti virus + common sense.

Myself, I don't even run anti virus anymore as of the last WAN show. It was more hassle than it's worth and I tend to visit the same sites frequently anyway. Remember not to respond to obvious spam emails about some prince in Nigeria, dodgy as balls web adverts and other suspicious things on the internet. Oh, and always pay close attention to things you download that are packages. Those things are tricky dicky when it comes to trying to install junk if you aren't paying attention to decline everything that isn't the program you actually want.

Why norton no good and why is avast better ?

Norton uses way too many sytem resources last I checked. And it is no better at it's job than Avast or AVG, both of which are totally free.

Just remember that the best protection is being sensible about where you stick your...ehm, mouse. <-<
