Hi everyone!

Just wanted to see if anyone has any experience with SaneBox. They're an email management software you can link up to Gmail, Outlook, etc. and help filter out and organize your inbox.

They recently reached out to us with a sponsorship opportunity and any feedback, insight, or opinions would be welcome.

Thanks in advance 😀

Outlook

Wait did I miss out on a memo or didn't Outlook already have this built in? My dad manages his personal mail on Outlook system alongside his office mail.

The service learns from your tendencies to filter out spam email, and tidy up your inbox. Pretty much, it does what most built in email filters do, but claims to be much more comprehensive and picks up on your habits a lot quicker. It also automatically filters your emails so you, in theory, won't have to drag/sort them into folders manually.

While they look legit, there are many questions we should ask ANY service that can access our email messages, especially since email addresses are treated as part of the authentication process (password resets, 2FA via email, etc.) for other services.

https://www.sanebox.com/security

- how exactly do the "algorithms analyze the patterns in ... email behavior"? (need to know how analysis works.)

- which data centre partners do they use? (they can write "ISO" standards all they want; we need to see proof.)

- what "proven public key cryptography" is used? (hard to trust if the encryption standard isn't publicly known.)

- how are the "servers ... unreachable from the public Internet"? (if they're not airgapped, it's only a matter of time.)

- "network access is provided through encrypted VPN tunnels via a bastion server" - so the encryption key servers are technically accessible then...?

- everything here indicates my data would be subject to U.S. and other country's laws. That's a HARD_NOPE.JPG from me.

That said, I greatly appreciate how they've designed their Terms of Service page with the English friendly descriptions to the left of the complex legalese. Very few other services do this, so big points to them on this front.

Thanks everyone for your input! @kirashi thank you for your very in-depth response. I'm going to reach back out to SaneBox and see if they can answer the concerns you've brought up. If we find their reply sufficient, we will be moving forward with the partnership.

Going to lock this thread now. Again, thank you everyone!
