HP pavilion bios

So I got myself a HP pavilion system for 45 bucks, the guy I bought It from updated the bios but failed so he sold it to me. I chucked In a R5 3600 and a gt620 to no avail. So I'm curious, would it work to reprogram the bios chip? Or would it be a better idea to get a preprogrammed one of eBay? Does the file I need to flash on the chip exist somewhere on the internet? For some info: mb model: Erica3_Erica5 rev A

You bought an OEM PC with a known failed UEFI/BIOS update?

 

I wouldn't expect any level of effort into such to be worth it, but sure, if you can solder on a known good EEPROM with the proper UEFI on it or somehow flash it externally, but otherwise I'd just scrap the motherboard personally.

from a quick google hit, if i got the right boad;

 

there's an SPI header next to the bios chip, if you have an SPI programmer you can just download the bios image from HP, and flash it over SPI.

I see a header marked "spi debug", and I have a ch341a flasher on hand. Chips is supported by the flasher according to the AliExpress description. But where to get the file? Do i have to unzip it? Any modification to the file required?

you download it from HP, from the driver page for the computer it came out of.
