hello

my laptop fan shuts itself off and on again when in games and when temperature gets to 85°C the fan turns itself to max and wont shut off  unless i shut off the computer. While the fan is turning off and on while gaming the fps falls down to about 10 and it is impossible to play like this.

My laptop is Toshiba satellite L850-11D

  • Intel® Core™ i3-2350M Processor

    6 GB RAM

AMD Radeon™ HD 7670M Graphics (1GB dedicated memory)

My advise will be to:

1. Update the BIOS

2. If you don't have the warranty anymore, open the laptop, clean it from dust

3. Change the thermal compound on both the CPU and the GPU

Codename: HighFlyer, specs:  CPU: i5 2500k cooled by a H70ish(2 rad)   Mobo: MSI MPower Z77   GPUs: Gigabyte GTX 660 OC 1150 MHZ core, 3150 memory both   RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16G @1600mhz   SSD: ADATA Premier Pro sx900 / HDD Seagate Barracuda 1TB/Samsung 1TB   Power supply: Corsair RM650 80+ Gold   Case Corsair Carbide 500R   5.4 ghz achieved on the good old 2500k, may it rest in peace. Current daily OC is 4.8 @1.41 v

Have you tried lowering the settings in-game? If you reduce the stress on the GPU the temps might not get so high. AA and texture details and particle effects would be a good start.

And as morfy said, try getting the dust out.

Also, make sure the laptop is on a hard surface with plenty of airflow. I've seen more than a few overheating issues caused very simply by all the vents being blocked because someone was using it on a couch or with a blanket under it on their lap.

i have cleaned dust, i have changed thermal compound and there is enough space between table an laptop

i think it might be a software problem

Get a laptop cooler if you want to lower your temps. The NotePal X3 is a good choice.
