Hello, everyone. I am shadow gamer, a member of the GMC[Game Maker Community], a programmer and a bit of a pc enthusiast. I'm also new here.

So recently, I used PCPartPicker and their links to pick the parts for my most recent(and first) PC. I am a user of WOT[Web of Trust], and I came a across this in the comments of it's scorecard

There seems to be a browser exploit attack repeatedly happening when clicking on links to other services. This cannot be changed unless the owner of the site fixes it.Until then this site will get a bad rating.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update
The site for www.PCpartPicker  has not an refuses to handle there brandjacking and Cybersquatting issue an are allowing browser hijacks to continue on this site.PCpartpicker is completely responsible for this issue an I must report their site is NOT SAFE you account information can be stole personal data take and abused.By simply using a firewall program this was visible.I used 2 one was PeerBlock-Setup_v1.1_r518 which identified the site right away.

Yes without it you will see it go directly to the site you want. However you do not go directly there. But behind another account that is NOT trustworthy! They are known for installing viruses an miscellaneous programs in your computer. This is a direct browser exploit.

Was what I did safe? PCPartPicker does have a forum/community and a channel[Much like this community] so I was wondering if it was still a good option to use it. Even my friend recommended it to me, but I'm quite skeptical.

Thanks in Advance,

-Shadow

Thank you for your replies, WinNut and Askew. For now, I will be content knowing I have not been scammed, until someone else posts otherwise.

A vast amount of linking to PCPartpicker happens on this forum.

A one off post from last year somewhere vs countless instances of use by our members without issue spells all clear to me.

I dunno what that other guy is talking about, but the site is good. I've had some troubles with the site using firefox (connection resetting before everything loads properly), but I've been working with Ryan at PCpartpicker to help determine the cause. No malware issues on my end.
