I've had this 5TB WD Easystore for a year now, and it's been working pretty well up until now. I was copying mkv files between this drive and another external drive when File Explorer began crashing, and this problem persisted even after I restarted it. I plugged both drives into a different computer and checked CrystalDiskInfo to see if there's anything wrong with either drives, and found this. Is this issue repairable? If not, should I try to RMA it for a replacement from Best Buy?

Hello.

As far as I can tell, CrystalDisk only reports red on the "Read Error Rate" if it detected bad sectors. Bad sectors are irreversible as far as I know so I'd try and rescue everything I can if the data is sensitive. You can also try mirroring a drive so it tries to save everything it can or use Linux distro (like Ubuntu) to try to dance over some issues (worked for me here and there).

I would exchange it for a new one if possible.

Good luck!
