That doesn't change anything. The proper, and only method, is you uninstall your old drivers, shut down your PC, swap out the old GPU for the new GPU, power up your PC, install the new drivers, restart your PC. You made a mistake the last time by not uninstalling your old drivers first. Your version of Windows also changes nothing in your installation steps beyond making sure you are installing the correct drivers for your OS.

When i restored my computer it reinstalled the nvidia drivers. Should i leave them on there or take them off too?

Hell no, drivers for your 8800GT will not be the correct drivers for use with a 750 Ti. Follow the steps I listed, and make sure you are uninstalling the drivers and not just deleting the files.

I left them on there because i didnt get a response fast enough, but i checked nvidias aite after i installed it, and apparently they run off of the exact same things, so i had the latest drivers.
