So i am upgrading a old prebuilt, and found the parts i need on Ebay (Ebay is the ONLY place i found the CPU in), this is going to be my first time using Ebay so IDK most stuff there is to know about that place, so i just wanted to ask about any tips or this to take precaution in.

links-

PC- PC (with 3rd gen i3, 500GB HDD, 8GB ram) (i have this already)

RAM- RAM (for the trillion web pages)

CPU- CPU (hyper threading isn't very efficient in this gen, so i debate going with a i5 instead)

SSD- SSD

HT has been the same "effectiveness" since it was first introduced... it helps with multi threaded workloads, but it is not the same as a full on core would be. If you can get an i5, it would be a decent upgrade especially since 3rd gen is already getting pretty old at this point.

'd say to get this (or something similar) instead of upgrading that box:

most of my problem is the shipping cost, which are absurdly high (half of the product price in some cases) and there is a good chance that i can find the CPU in a local market. so buying something else is sure to cost more
