As long as you're getting it directly from Microsoft it's fine and genuine copy too. If getting it from an alternative site instead of directly from Microsoft it's entirely possible to have problems.... And even some bugs too.
Also, creating an iso from a genuine copy/image if it's not done correctly can cause problems too.

how are you putting windows on the usb drive? It needs to be made bootable. You can use the microsoft installation tool or burn the iso with rufus.

THIS.

I've used Rufus to create an iso before and it worked fine, it formatted the USB drive and all else for me and the install it created worked without issue.

Scary title aside, Hi. I managed to corrupt my SSD (Boot drive 😭) and then I tried to use the ✨Asus SSD Secure Erase ✨ feature, which then put it into Frozen Status 🥶 Now I dont know how to unfreeze it, tried the unplugging ssd power and replugging method, but nah. WHAT DO I DO? 😭

No need for secure erase if you'll use it again for a new os. Just reinstall indeed.

The thing is that since it's frozen it doesn't show up in the boot options and the only one is my USB, I'll try tomorrow again with a Win 11 usb and I'll update

Do you have another drive you can install Windows on, even temporarily?

Ok after doing some Googling I have learnt that this is Intel's doing in some way(i'm not blaming them, so hold up a sec) basically this "Frozen" labelling is a feature to stop anyone other than you from Secure Erasing your SSD's, setting a password, or even locking your drive down with ransomware. Easiest way to break the "Frozen" label is boot into Windows(if it's not your OS drive that is frozen) you can do one of a few things, put the drive into hibernate, or power it down completely, or, the last straw, pull the power from the drive while you're in Windows and then reconnect it. It's got something to do with UEFI BIOS and bypassing it, to make the drive usable again....seriously Secure Erasing drives is a damn pain in the neck. I have no experience with the Secure Erase implementation on the latest ROG boards, so I cannot comment on how good or bad it is, so I just suggest you keep out of the Secure Erase tab until you do need to perform a secure erase and then when you do, download something like Parted Magic, always works for me :slightly_smiling_face:

Edit: A user here was able to set their BIOS to Legacy and have their SSD come back.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

OS error but the drive seems to be working again.
The boot sector/MBR is not right and sometimes if you're trying to do an install from a burned/copied (Pirated) iso it won't go well and you'll have this.
Only real option is to do a "From Scratch" install from proper media as in a real copy of Windows so you know that won't be a factor.

If expecting your old files to be there, remember you did use drive erase on it so..... Nope - Probrably not.
Do the OS setup, let it format the disc and do it's install.

The thing is as I mentioned my old (and only other device i have) laptop can't even run the media creation tool to put it on my usb so im referring to direct iso files
