PC won't boot into OS

Go to solution Solved by Sawa Takahashi,

According to the error logs of your Linux Boot attempt, I'd say that the processor is at fault somehow. I think it is time to reseat your processor and make sure that it seats perfectly in its socket.

While there, you can also try reseating RAM and the GPU, you never know.

As for deeper testing, I'd try another CPU to see if the issues goes away. Since you are on the AM4 platform, you should have an easy time to find a CPU for testing purposes (any repair shop should be able to lend you one too). Even if you can't find one, you can purchase an r5 5500 for a very low price at the moment (you can make sure you can return it in case your issue isn't solved).

Good luck again 馃檪

PC suddenly crashed the other day, since then it won't boot into an OS (BIOS is fine, but will not boot into live USB of Zorin OS, windows recovery USB, or windows installation on SSD or HDD).

I get to see the motherboard manufacturer logo (Asrock), spinning thinking icon very briefly, then it restarts. Then motherboard manufacturer logo again with spinning thinking icon and the words 'Preparing Automatic Repair'.

NOTE WHEN BOOTING TO USB:

Zorin OS USB will show a menu asking what you want to do (try the OS, try with safe graphics, try with modern Nvidia drivers) and this screen can be displayed indefinitely. But, when you pick an option the screen will go blank, throw up some linux command line logs for a fraction of a second, then restart.

Windows USB will show a blinking cursor in the top left of the screen for several seconds before getting聽 Windows logo and thinking indicator, then rebooting after a couple of seconds.

Two things you can try :

1. Clear the CMOS so the BIOS parameters return to default.

2. Try booting without the Silicon Power SSD. I had a bad experience with faulty drives purchased from Amazon.

Good luck !

I have cleared the CMOS and booted without the SSD, neither seemed to affect the problem.

I've reseated the GPU and RAM (also tried each stick individually) and tried with a different GPU.

I'll see if I can find a repair/parts place that might let me borrow/lend a CPU to test it with
