Can´t set display to native resolution: I moved to another place, plugged my computer back together and now I can´t set 4k resolution anymore

So it indeed was the cable. Swapped it and everything is back to normal.

Hey there

I didn´t change anything despite unplugging the display (samsung u28e590d ) and plugging it back in. At first the maximum available resolution was 2560x1440, now at least for some reason 3840x2160 appeared again. But whenever I set this resolution the screen turns black. The same for games. I reinstalled the graphics driver (running an RTX 4090) and display drivers. Still not working. In GeForce Experience in "My Rig" the Display is listed as 2560x1440, not as a 4k display as it used to, so maybe its software related, which is weird since I only turned off the pc and turned it back on.

I have no clue on what is wrong here. I also tried all available display ports yielding the same result. Could it be a somehow broken cable?

Once again I didn´t change anything software wise. Only when trying to fix things.

I hope its not a damaged gpu, even though I still have warranty.

Already ordered a new cable but wanted to ask to see whether you guys know anything certain.

Maybe you can try booting from a Ubuntu Live USB stick and see if those resolutions are available.

Sudden changes like these that seem to be caused by nothing are in many cases the result of a Windows update. Have you tried running a full DDU and then installing the graphics driver? Can you try setting the resolution in Nvidia Control Panel rather than PC Settings?

Ok I will have to get into that as I don´t have any experience with stuff like that.

I haven´t run a DDU. Maybe I should wait for the new cable first? In the control panel the result is the same. Black Screen once I set it to 4k.
