A screen shot of one of Linus videos demonstrating how fast NVME 5.0 is in Seq Vs a picture of my array in my Zen 4 system.

This post is just fun really but if anyone wants to recreate this for them selves you need 4x Corsair MP600 2TB or better with the Asus Hyper M.2 Enclosure and a System that has at leased 16x PCIE Lanes and a feature called bifurcation.

I can't wait for Gen 5 M.2s to mature more and get raid controllers I'm so down for a 4x gen 5 raid.

What can I say I hate bottlenecks and one of the biggest is storage.

What do you guys think?

For what uses is storage a significant hardware limitation?

Numbers go up, but they don't really have much of an impact on gamers or normal users until DirectStorage gets used in more than one obscure PC game. What might make a BIT of a difference is if those random throughput numbers went up, which may impact boot times or app load times, but they hardly did in the top 2 screenshots. Glad to see them go up in the bottom screenshot though.

I do alot of caching. Plus high speed storage helps with virtual memory and scrubbing through video editing software.

I also use a lot of virtual mechines.

Congrats on capitalizing on the few examples where pcie version and raw throughput can in fact make a difference
