Just a year ago I built a PC with a 5950x and 128gb of RAM for work (full specs below) and the overall result has been optimal, but always suffering these lag and stuttering problems known by so many
people (AMD included). I had lag very annoying lag with the mouse and keyboard, plus occasional BSODs (quite random, pointing to "MEMORY MANAGEMENT" and ntoskrnl.exe

I've been trying all the solutions I could see here and other forums, besides updating BIOS and drivers when they came out. Sometimes the situation improved, but the problems returned.

For some time now these lags have increased and I've gone back to run several tests on the machine. The typical stress tests pass without problems (temperatures are good) and the benchmarks are as they should be. But last night I ran Memtest86 and it found errors (test 7). I removed the XMP from the Ram and it gave errors again (test 6); I removed modules 3 and 4 and it gave errors again (Test 6).

I understand that I may very well have defective RAM, but I've seen many people have solved the problems by replacing the CPU, so I don't know if that is the original problem.

What can I do to rule out that it is the CPU and not the RAM? Or vice versa.

Full Specs:

Gigabyte X570S Aero G
AMD Ryzen 9 5950X Box
G.Skill F4-3200C16Q-128GVK
RTX3090
4 NVME
Corsair RM850 v2021

Thank you very much!

What if you remove modules 1 and 2?

Maybe one of the kits is defective. If it still fails with all of the sticks individually, then it may be an issue with the memory controller in the CPU.

I just tested with B2 and A2 and had errors right away (test 6) 😕

Do you have time to try each stick individually without XMP, just to be sure?

I've tested the other 2 sticks in those same slots and 0 errors.

I had another older RAM on hand (4x16gb DDR4), so I did the test with that kit and 0 errors as well.

So I understand that definitely one of those first 2 sticks must be defective. What I didn't know is that a faulty RAM could cause that stuttering on the mouse, for example, or is it that I have 2 faults at once (CPU and RAM)
