Bluetooth issue with Xbox controller.

I need some help with what I think is a Bluetooth problem. 
I had a B550 strix mboard computer with an AMD 5600cpu. I had connected an Xbox controller through Bluetooth and it worked perfectly, no dropouts, no issues. 
I used this mostly for RDR2. Fast Fwd a few months. I upgraded CPU to a 5800X3D. Because of this upgrade I had to do a bios update. This worked fine and was happy days.

the other day I decided to fire up RDR2 which I had not used for a few months. 
I found my controller would randomly drop out. Sometimes after a few seconds, sometimes a few minutes. Usual googling and YouTube research showed a few things to try. I have since done

 

reconnect the controller several times. 
Replaced controller batteries. 
update all drivers. (Bluetooth, chipset etc)
update firmware for the controller. 
 

Now it’s still randomly dropping out. It also will after approx a few minutes start to act like it’s not operating the controls properly. In RDR this shows as the camera stick and movement stick not following controls properly. When I test the controls on the Xbox accessories app everything looks normal except when it drops out and nothing works. 
 

I am out of ideas. I have done everything YouTube and Google has suggested. 
does anybody else have any suggestions?

iirc those had issues with bt and usb, maybe try reinstalling the drivers if you haven't, aka remove the current ones completely then reinstall,  thats how i fixed "broken" ps4 controllers, several times.
