Might be a simple issue as the ribbon cable as the screen is actually functioning but it looks like a selection was made ?

Have you tried resetting the PRAM etc ?

Resetting PRAM didn't work. And yeah screen is fully functional except that high brightness patch.

have you ever taken such items apart i the past ?

Asking because it is relatively easy if you have the correct tools.

unless you took out one of those 3 year apple service options I would try open the Macbook and giving a bit of a gentle clean and then carefully remove the ribbon cable and then reinsert it again.

I had an older power book that had a similar issue several years ago. Not as dramtaic as you have but removing the cable and then placing it back solved the issue of some line on the leftside of the screen. the display was correct only the lines were a totally different colour.

I cannot say with any certaintly if the cable was the solution or the basic gentle cleaning I did.

There used to be an app that can also flash solids colours at a fast speed that sometimes can help correct an issue. You could also try going into desktop pictures nd manually selecting solid colours just to see if it can make a difference. it appears that the screen is fine but something with the signal running over the cable. it looks like the same tone as when one makes a screen shot selection.

the application to run the fast solid colour switching I have no idea what it was called anymore but hopefully you can track it down or someone else might now what it was called.

Hey, i took my time and got all the kit required to open up and did what you have mentioned. Nothing worked. I guess we can conclude the display have some issues.

Thank you for your help.

Signs of a bad panel 😞

Time to try to find a replacement panel if you can.
