H55 pump speed

As the title says i have a H55, now the pump for it is connected to one of the 3 pin chassis fan ports on my motherboard. It seems to register at about 1500RPM on full speed. First: Is that speed safe for the pump? Second: Is it better to have my MB adjust the speed automatically or have it on full speed all the time?
