Avast smart scan

So I did a smart scan with Avast free antivirus and the first spot said it found some issues but now instead of scanning browser it now does scanning operating system which is windows 10 was wondering if this has happened to anyone else or what might be going on. I have also used avast clean which takes you to safe mode to uninstall it and then reinstalled fresh same thing happens. On a windows 8.1 machine same version of avast it does scanning for outdated apps.
