What does ddu mean?

DDU stands for Display Driver Uninstaller.  Its used to remove absolute all driver files that can be left over. Its mainly used when switching from AMD to Nvidia or Nvidia to AMD or large jumps in GPU generations. It should be used in Safe Mode / Not connected to the internet so windows do not have time to install or download any drivers ( You download the drivers first so you can install them with internet off  )
4070ti and 4080 are the same generation so they will be plug and play.
No need to DDU now UNLESS you experience issues.
But as you know, computers can be funny and act up in unexpected ways.

This is prob a stupid question but I want to be sure. I'm going from a PNY 4070ti oc to a PNY 4080 oc. I kick myself every day for not just buying the 90 when I built this and had the money. I had a small windfall and was able to upgrade some. This isn't something that happens a lot or I would hold out for the 90ti. I have the newest driver installed already. I would think it can just be plug and play. I don't know for sure tho. Do I need to remove the software and allow Windows to discover the new hardware first?

That will be plug and play.  IF however the drivers or something acts up then you should DDU and reinstall the GPU drivers to see if that fixes it.  4070ti and 4080 basically use the same driver so yeah, plug and play.

Driver removal tool.

You don't need to do it this time.

This post has been ninja-edited while you weren't looking.

I'm a used parts bottom feeder.  Your loss is my gain.

I like people who tell good RGB jokes.

I screwed up. I thought the check mark was a like and it gave him the credit for solving. I'm sorry. There are prob stats and I screwed it up. It was supposed to go the other way. I don't see a way to change it either. I thank you both.

I got it now. I thought I would have to wait more for an answer. Thx guys. You're awesome. I'm gonna get started. It's gonna be a job. I had to mod the case and my riser to make it fit. It's so close to the board, there's an insane amount of heat right there. This GPU is even bigger. I need to further modify it to get it away from the board some. Thx again.
