Hello tech buddies!

These are my upcoming specs:

Please add comments and suggestions to the build as well..

That is not correct, the upcoming Devils Canyon will only be compatibility with the upcoming z97 Boards. They're planned to be released together with the i5 4690k the 2nd June. :)

gryphon is a great board also here is some others but i dont think they will go well with a green theme

keep in mind that i dont think the gigabyte z97m d3h supports sli nor does the asus z97m plus keep in mind this is just assumptions by the look as there is no further info about sli compatibility.

Edit: i went to the manufacture website and i was right they dont support sli but all the others do.

Correct, i mean, the Black theme on the Gryphon will look "fine" with the green stuff on it.. So i guess thats better than a red or yellow board? Like Gigabyte and MSI make.

Also, you can install the Z87 Armor on the Z97 Gryphon, which is what I'll be doing.

Around the 3 minute mark.

Actually I've been using the i7 4790k devil's canyon in my Asus Z97 Gryphon Armor Edition Mb and its suits fine. Core i7 4790k is Lga 1150 which is being supported by all z97 mbs.

PSU: Corsair AX860 Fully Modular

Thanks in advance! :)

I ran two r9 290's - on my Z87 Gryphon I a BitPhenix Prodigy M - I guess you could say great minds link alike?? :-P

I can tell you that it was loud and hot, I had 2x 120mm 1800rpm fans blowing onto the cards, one 100mm fan where the CD drive goes and a 140mm 1200 rpm zorst fan

the cards thermally throttled unless I ran 60% fan speed on the reference blower (loud) I slot 1 and an open air cooler in slot 2 (kept really cool thanks to the dual 120mms blowing straight onto it.

if I swapped and run the open air in slot one it thermally throttled to 500mhz on 100% fan speed in about 5 mins - overall this was more quiet as the leaf blower was running at 45% without throttling.

the 780TI runs just as hot as the r9 290

------

TLDR; you will have a hot and loud computer if you do this set-up.

The only way this works is if you get a motherboard that has the two full speed PCIe slots in position 1 and position 4 - so they have a slot between them to keep cool.

I also love the Prodigy M - its a great case - and it made me really sad to swap to a Fractal XL R2 - I got a GTX980 G1 gmign but it was soo long it hit the PSU I the Prodigy-  however I now have enough space for a ATX or e-ATX board that will do SLI with adequate space between the cards.

Sim Rig:  Valve Index - Acer XV273KP - 5950x - GTX 2080ti - B550 Master - 32 GB ddr4 @ 3800c14 - DG-85 - HX1200 - 360mm AIO

Motherboard buying has boiled down to simply

#1 correct chipset

#2 decent vendor that you trust

#3 features that you like/want

Other than that they're all the same. With Intel bringing SO many things into the chip itself.. hard to really differentiate motherboards.

Even VRM solutions are all pretty much engineered to the point that you'll be fine (unless you're running some stupid AMD bonkers chip like FX-9590).

In this instance:

#0 has PCI slots that are spaced apart enough for adequate cooling
