100% disk usage

Go to solution Solved by Skipple,

Yes, mount your SSD properly. Take that standoff out (it's in the wrong spot by the way), take it down to your local hardware store, and find a replacement screw.  2.0 x 3mm (CM2x3-3.3)

not entirely sure where to put this – but i need a bit of help.

i recently got a pc and was told i have to replace the ssd.  there is no m.2 screw to hold it down (i checked for a spare screw and there was none either).  i messed with powering the pc on and such, it runs fine at first.  but when i install something, the disk usage shoots straight to 100% and bluescreens.  i’m wondering what the issue is here?  is it because it’s not properly installed or the ssd has it’s own issue?  i attached a photo of the ssd btw.  thanks.

i want to create a new post because i urgently want a response.  i was recently given a pc by dad’s friend and he told me i need to replace the ssd.  i played around with it a bit and after some time the disk usage shoots to 100% and the pc bluescreens.  i was told it’s a mounting issue at first but even after being properly mounted, it still shoots to 100 and bluescreens.  i don’t know the issue here, can anyone help?  should i just go ahead and get the replacement?  i wanted a reply quickly because i may go ahead and go today.  thanks

Are you sure that it is an SSD? It could be a HDD. Anyway they are both dead/dying. Buy a new SSD, they are pretty cheap.

yes, it is a phison ssd.  i ran crystaldiskinfo, the health is 99%.  unsure what health is considered dying but i will still be buying a new one

Can you verify that the slot is not the issue? Do you have another drive?

I had sata drives that did not work properly because of a cable.

i don’t have another drive on me unfortunately.  how would the slot be the issue, exactly?  just curious.  i will update when i buy the new ssd.

Does the motherboard have another slot, also, I do not really know what kinds of issues there are regarding slots, but I sure know that it can be because of the slot, judging from my experience.
