This is my first build, and I'm looking for a good PSU. My budget us $700 and it's mostly being used for gaming.

 

I need help finding a PSU for $70 or less. Here are 2 of the ones I'm looking at:

Thermaltake

 

Which one should I go with, or are there any others that you recommend?

You can get a far far superior gpu by allocating less money on less important stuff by finding cheaper equivalents/alternatives (particularly case, psu, and cpu + board)

 

Gpu is used so make sure you can return incase faulty (although risk is very minor)

 

Cheaper equivalent cpu which also allows a cheaper board (which you can get even cheaper if you look for used b3/450)

 

completely cut cost on the case, dont need 1/7 the budget being wasted on a part that contributes nothing to performance. I reccomend buying a cheap used office case and taking off the sidepanel

 

 

For optional improvements

 

Used psu, you can easily find solid 850w gold units for around 40-60$, maybe units like thermaltake toughpower/gf, corsair rm, etc. Very minimal risk and allows for futureproofing

 

Lga 775 copper core, 2-3$ and outperforms the wraith stealth, only caveat being having to ziptie to the cpu but this will allow you to match or beat the 12400f/5600 by simply overclocking to 4.7-4.8ghz on all cores instead of whatever pathetic ~4.4 allcore you can get with the wraith cooler

I need power supply suggestions that are 70 U.S dollars or less. I want it from a reliable brand (EVGA, Corsair, Thermaltake, Seasonic, etc.) so it won't light on fire. 

 

I'll mostly be using the PC for gaming
