PC HELP!

Go to solution Solved by JJIN1025,

Issue should be resolved now. I think updating the BIOS along with manually downloading the Grpahics Driver was the solution. I saw on the Bios update notes that it improved memory performance which definetly helped considering my memory wasn’t on the QVL list. Had to order online because the Microcenter near me didn’t have the compatible ones

I just built my first ever PC and I'm not sure why my games are crashing/computer is restarting. My computer itself runs perfectly fine when I'm not playing games

Parts (Estimate Wattage: 720)

CPU: Intel Core i7-13700K 3.4 GHz 16-Core Processor

CPU Cooler: Thermalright Frost Commander 140 95.5 CFM CPU Cooler

Motherboard: Asus PRIME Z790-P WIFI ATX LGA1700 Motherboard

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory

Storage: Samsung 980 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive

GPU: EVGA FTW3 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080

Power Supply: ADATA XPG CORE Reactor 850 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

Errors:

1. When playing CSGO my screen would freeze but I'd still be able to "move" around in game and hear in game audio. My computer would also freeze when playing League of Legends.

2. When I do crash, I get a buzzing sound (feedback?) in my headphones and my screen becomes black/distorted. I would mostly see a black screen but some glimpses of my Wallpaper Engine running

3. I've gotten several different Blue Screens of Death with several different errors (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, Critical Process Died, System Thread Exception Not Handled)

What I've tried already:

1. I've had MicroCenter run diagnostics on my PC. Not sure what the diagnostics were exactly but worker said GPU/CPU/Memory Benchmark Tests. Results came back saying that I was completely fine but my PC is obviously not.

2. I've used the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool to verify if my RAM was broken/not pushed in all the way

3. All my drivers are up to date including Motherboard/GPU

4. I've ran a SFC scan to verify that my Windows doesn't have any corrupt files after reinstalling it. I'm on Windows 11

Misc:

1. I got my GPU secondhand from somebody who was mining on it from Hardware Swap. It is not being overclocked and I checked via MSI Afterburner

2. I got my Motherboard, RAM, and Storage as a bundle from MicroCenter.

Thanks in advance everybody.

Says to me bad RAM.

Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool

Useless. Use MemTest86. Gold Standard for detecting RAM errors.

Also, ensure your BIOS is up to date AND XMP is turned off

Just got an Error "RAM may be vulnerable to high frequency row hammer bit flips". I'm seeing conflicting information online and Reddit is down. Any idea what this means? @Radium_Angel. Let me know if I shouldn't be @'ing people. New to this platform.

@ing me is perfectly fine

Ignore (for now) that warning...is the RAM passing the tests?

@Radium_Angel @Whatisthis. Memtest just finished. Didn't get any errors. I'll test out if my games are still crashing tomorrow. I saw when downloading the latest BIOS that the new version helps with memory compataibility

Added my Windows Logs below. Not sure if useful or not.

You have a disk error happening and at least one instance of the display driver crashing. There is also system file corruption.

Open an elevated command prompt and type in “sfc /scannow” and hit enter. Then type in “DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth“ and hit enter. Then type in “checkdsk” and enter.

Every one of those messages with a Red X or ! on it is a sign of problems. I'd need the details on each one to see what's going on.

But start with @Whatisthis says and report back.

That’s for your GPU. That a bit warm for idle.

download hwinfo and run it for a couple of hours while doing normal things. It will log the min and max values for sensors. Useful in troubleshooting.

@Whatisthis. Should I try gaming with it open or just normal activities like browsing the web? Wondering if it'll still "report" if my computer crashes

Set it to save to a log so that if you crash it will have saved the data along the way.

I’d start with normal things and then go to gaming.

Reset *EVERYTHING* to stock values. Turn off any mods to your hardware. XMP/DOCP/OCing/Undervolting, all that stuff.

See what your system does

By everything do you mean like all the components. I'm not sure how exactly I would do that. Through BIOS?

XMP is disabled already and the Ram is installed in the 1st and 3rd slot
