Hello !

I need to build one or more servers with 2 goals in mind :

- 3D (Cinema 4D) render farm (well farm.. diddly squat sized)

- AI StableDiffusion videos rendering

My ideal config would be something along the lines of 4 (to 6) RTX 4090 (mostly for 3D rendering) and maybe 1 A100 later (more VRAM, GPU bw for all AI stuff). But focus on the 4090 server(s) first.

I'd like to rack all these servers, so I though about Supermicro Superservers or Gigabyte's rack servers (like R281-3C2). I know these servers are not meant to be used with consumer grade GPUs, especially triple slot, but RTX4090s are such good value for the performance compared to DC cards, and have a reasonable amount of VRAM. Plus if Linus does it, I should be able to do it as well 😅

I thought about RTX A6000 but they seem more on par with RTX 4080s and are twice the price of the RTX 4090s (but, I know, more VRAM which is good).

I'd love to hear your suggestions on what to build around 4 (or more) 4090s. Last resort is a regular ATX tower PC but I'd much rather them running neatly in our server room 🙂

Thanks !
