Hello,

I'm having a few issues with an ebay 3080ti. The temps seem way too high even with the side panel off, the card becomes very hot very quickly.

On top of this there are quite a lot of crashes in several games. Hogwarts, Last of us and Cyberpunk crash quite often, Last of us is a buggy game but Hogwarts and cyberpunk used to run with out issues.

I tried Dying Light 2 and this is what gave the temps below, this was from gaming around 10 mins so not very long.

This is coming from a 3070, it seems quite unstable on the 3080ti.

My power supply is fine a Corsair 850W.

From what I have been told it wasn't a mining card but just used on regular games etc.

At this point is it worth just returning it?

Those temps seem exorbitantly high - I would hope that an FE owner reads your post and replies.

I was wondering what your ebay seller score/rating was.   It looks like a mining card to me.   80s - low 100s temps seem too high even at load/gaming - FE, notwithstanding.   That would be unacceptable to me.   You might want to list/share the rest of your hardware:   case, # of fans, cooler, etc.?    Setup/airflow situation?   I'd be very reluctant to get a gpu off Ebay - although, it has a good return/scam policy?   I took a chance on a motherboard - and that worked out okay so I am not saying 'don't get computer hardware' on ebay.   It's just that video cards seem a bit extra risky to me.

Good luck.

Hmmmm.... temps on this card seem to get up there when pushing it while gaming.... I think the best thing to do is try to find FE owners who game - and get their feedback.

Thats the reason people are even recommending it in the first place. Even individual seller have to respect the return policy. +1 on OP being more specific about their cooling situation, but from memory junction alone that might suggest that the thermal pads might be drying off early.

Ideally I would have got a 3080 first time but the 3070 was the only thing I could get at a decent price. I have a 2K 165htz monitor so needed more than what the 3070 could do.

Thinking things through its probably best to return it.

Now I have to decide if I should get another ebay card or bite the bullet and get a new card.

Do you have a used card market (meaning buy& sell/meet/exchange)?    There's pros and cons with ebay - ebay has the return policy but you don't know anything about the seller - so, I would want a high score 'close to 100%' or pretty darn good.

But, the used market - you go in person and inspect the card - and hopefully, you can get a good vibe/impression of the seller during negotiation and meeting.   I guess, I got lucky - knock on wood, the 3080 is fine.   I wish I waited or saved up more and got a 3080 though.   I totally understand wanting to switch from a 3070 to 3080 Ti.   Probably lots of ppl bought adequate cards on ebay - it's just luck or bad luck.

I kinda agree with the other guy - maybe thermal pads are going - I have read a lot of stories/reports of ppl replacing thermal pads on these hot 3080/3080 Ti/3090 cards.   I specifically looked for Asus Tuf cards - since, I was under the impression they have 'overkill' coolers and were relatively quiet.   The only thing I was worried about was whether it was used for mining or had coil whine.   Mine seems okay right now although I wish I went with a card with more vram and a bit more performance. 🙂
