GPU Upgrade Problems

Go to solution Solved by Timspector,

Finally figured it out! After trying everything I still had no luck, ended up being a one drive issue (I stopped using it a while back). I had to force delete my entire documents folder after removing one drive and then it launched no problem! Thank you for all the help though. I just didn't know where to start!

I recently got a Nvidia 3050 from a friend, opened but unused, and swapped it with my 760 OC. I get display and my computer runs fine for browsing and even the razer Axon program no problem, however when intry and launch elder scrolls online it gets stuck on a black screen immediately. I did do a fresh windows install as well. I've only replaced identical hardware so very new to this.

Specs:

And fx 4300 quad core 3.8GHz

16 gig ram

Corsair 800watt power supply

Could it be the cpu? That thing is ancient

It ran the game just fine before, not sure why it would be an issue now 😕

if the gpu was sat in a box for a few months, drivers could be out of date. I know its so basic but driver updates fix more issues than you know! go check it out! can you try launching other titles you have, like csgo or dota or something lighter in weight and older.

CPU : 5700x GPU : MSI GTX 1080

I've reinstalled drivered twice now 😕 lighter games run, this is the only game I haven't been able too. I've purged all files related to the game and am trying another reinstall. Could there be any issues because the gpu is so much newer than cpu? Previous reply mentioned my cpu's age but I do not know if that's what he meant

And you do mean drivers I'd download on GeForce or is there a way to update on the car itself?

It's not the CPU that's preventing you from launching the game I believe that's very close to the "recommended" specs for that game.

I know this is going to sound dumb but for sanity sake... just try removing the GPU and then reinstalling it (while the computer is off obviously). See if that helps first. If not --

Driver updates is likely the issue, could be something other than the GPU though. When you did the fresh install of windows did you go thru your Motherboard drivers and ensure the correct drivers got installed? It's often that when you're using older hardware with newer versions of windows that you'll end up with some generic driver that could be causing an issue - Look at your motherboard, go to the OEM website and look for your motherboard model and see if they have any updated drivers on their page, sometimes they do.

Download a tool called DDU, look up how to use it, and use it to scrub your registry of any traces of the 760 drivers AS WELL AS ITS ONLY DRIVERS, and perform a clean installation of the latest driver for that card (protip: keep that latest driver on your desktop).
