Audio latency Mac

Hey guys,

I have this issue with all my T2 chip macs (currently on mac mini 2018 i5 32gb ram 512 ssd). There is a slight audio latency when playing video on yt, streaming services, or local thru VLC. The latency is not that noticeable but i can see it. I have researched this issue and it seems that is a known issue. Went thru and disabled hardware acceleration, tried multiple external soundcards, connected directly to the mac mini headphones, etc, nothing works. Is there any solution to manually adjust the latency? To adjust the ms? Do you experience by any chance this issue? Apple mac support says that this is a known issue and provided to me a feedback link.

Never heard of adjusting latency manually. Mac or not. Not in the way that I think your suggesting.

EDIT - Review the link on t2 chips. The sound issue is a known issue like you said with the chips. Also has suggestions to use USB 3.0 instead of 2.0 or thunderbolt 3 hub.

Apple has released patches to lower issue.

Hey guys. Thank you for your assistance. Actually i found a solution. There is an application called SoundSource which allows AU units to be loaded. So i loaded the Simpledelay plugin and i was able to adjust the latency in audio. It seems like this issue is known under mac and especially under T2 chips after all my research. So... using this app i was able to manually adjust the output latency for all the software i need. You can use it for the main output or per application. I also own a Macbook Pro 2019, 16 inch, and the issue is the same, so i applied the same fix. The issue applies also to the integrated audio. There was a noticeable delay in everything i played over youtube or local files. Unfortunately i cannot find a different solution other that his 3rd party. I have also discussed this with Apple support, they know about this matter. I don't know if this applies to the Apple Silicon laptops, but for Intel with T2 chips, this is the only solution i could find.
