I helped a friend build a new computer, after several months of perfectly normal performance for the specs he suddenly began having severe frame issues. For reference we ran Furmark and got like 5000 to 6000.

Windows 64bit, up to date

Ryzen 5 5600

Samsung 980

Trident Z Royal 32GB DDR4 3600- don't have the cl rating for the kit, but I don't think it really matters in this case

650W EVGA SuperNOVA 80 Plus Gold

Gigabyte 3070 vision OC 8GB

Bios version 2803 x64

It's not a ram quantity problem I believe, as the system is not at 100 percent utilization for any of the components, this was the first thing we checked. I also do not believe this is a wattage issue, as the system was running as expected for several months before low performance began. To note, this began before he updated the graphics driver, and persisted after the update. Also strangely, he says that the system seems to come out of it after several restarts, with the problem soon to return after that.

I realize there isn't a lot of information included, I've come here simply because I don't even know where to start with this.

How are the cpu and gpu temperatures? If you need software HWMON is good.

As far as we could tell Temps we're fine, I was only using task manager to check it, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary
