What are the differences between HDMI 1.4 (my current monitor's standard -_-) and 2?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Version_1.4

The key things:

1.4 = 1080p 120Hz, 144p 120Hz, 4K 30Hz

2.0 = 4K 60Hz, HDR, in surround receivers some unofficially added eARC too so can work with HDMI 2.1 TVs for that
2.1 = 4K 120Hz, 8K 60Hz, Variable Refresh Rate, Auto Low Latency, eARC (upgrades ARC to support lossless surround sound)

Also https://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/hdmi-2-1 goes into a lot more detail.  Specifically check out the "Fake HDMI 2.1" section.
