Audio formats in soundbars and TV's, What to look for?

I'm thinking of a new tv and soundbar, and I give a lot of importance to audio (no so much to image). Yet I'm a little confused as the number of audio formats that are available.

Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Atmos, DTS-X, Dolby True HD, etc., what should I look for when buying new equipment? My media sources are a Google Chromecast with google tv 4k and a nintendo switch.

Also, on a related note, assuming eARC connection between the TV and the soundbar, does it passthrough any kind of audio, and therefore I only need to check what the soundbar supports, or must the TV and the soundbar both support the format?

I would suggest looking for Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD-MA, and Dolby Digital Plus (this is the successor to the old school Dolby Digital AC-3).

Whether you should get one with Atmos support depends largely on the speaker configuration. Personally I would ignore Atmos. If it's there, great, if not, no big loss.
