Custom Resolution Utility

Go to solution Solved by PCfees,

Actually fixed the problem myself, thanks to those that did look at it. I ended up just rebooting into safe mode, since it won't let you set a resolution above something super crappy, I thought it might work, and it did! I just reset the resolution in the Resolution Utility, and rebooted back to normal. Will NOT be trying to do this again until I have a better monitor that can support higher resolutions.

Thanks again to those that at least read about my problem.

I have recently watched Slick's new video on down sampling on the linusTechTips channel on YouTube, and thought that I might go ahead and give it a go. Since I have an ATI/AMD card, I followed Black Zero's link (can be found in video description) and then selected the link in his 3rd Edit. This took me to a link that took me to the Custom Resolution Utility. Using it, I set a custom resolution, right above 1080p, still maintaining the 6:9 ratio. After saving the settings and restarting, my screen remains blank, except for my monitor telling me that the input is not supported. The thing is, I can't get into the PC to repair it until I can see what's on my screen.

Does anyone know a workaround to this? A way of booting up maybe at a set resolution so that I can fix the problem?

start the pc and keep pressing F8 until a menu comes up with loads of options and then select 'Enable Low Resolution Video' and change the resolution from there and restart the PC.

Start windows in Safe Mode (F8 etc) or do system recovery (if nothing else works). You could also try using iGPU if you have one instead to remove or disable any programs that prevent custom resolutions.

E: Too late... :/
