Been getting strange artifacting on my system for a few months now, but it's gotten worse recently. It started off with black boxes and rendering issues in DX games, such as this

Today, it's progressed into this even just sitting on the Windows desktop:

From what I can gather, this is a VRAM issue as it shows on screen recordings and on screenshots. My GPU is a Zotac RTX 3080 Trinity LHR.

I did get in touch about this under warranty, but they are being a pain saying that I'm on my own because I bought the GPU second-hand. Their UK warranty policy doesn't actually exclude products purchased second-hand, but it does exclude them from their extended warranty programme.

I'm trying to get an RMA for it, but wondered if there's any other steps I can take to try and troubleshoot this further.

not really, you can try underclocking the vram, and undervolting, maybe get some temporary stability. but otherwise, it just needs replacing. are you sure the warranty allows that? i guess its different in the uk. in the us, warranty will not transfer.

It's a grey area, as far as I know. The warranty might not be, but our consumer rights might. We had proposed legislation to explicitly add transferability of warranties and such into law a few years ago, but they didn't go anywhere.

Zotac seem more inclined to help me than I expected, though, which is a positive based on what I've read online.

My issue is hard to reproduce because it only happens sometimes. At the moment, sitting on the desktop, it's fine. Last night I was getting those artifacts, though, but I still managed to play High on Life for a few hours without any artifacts in-game. It's very weird.
