Hi.....

I'm in my bios........

wtf do I do.......

I'm just trying to get windows installed and get up and running. Not interested in overclocking just yet as I am new to pc building. I am running an i7 4770k on an asus maximus vi hero. Does anyone have a good guide that will show me how to optimize my ram, gpu, etc and setup windows?

MUCH APPRECIATED!

If you got Windows on a DVD, you need to set your optical drive as the boot drive. If it's on a USB device, set that as the boot device

To optimize the RAM, just enable the XMP profile in the BIOS.

You don't need to optimize the GPU in the BIOS. Just remember to install the drivers when you have installed Windows.

Just leave everything on auto. Most modern mobos do a very good job on their own.

Does the computer boot you directly into the BIOS? You need to save the settings that you put into it by pressing F10 (I think it's F10 atleast).

If done correctly, you should be prompted by "Press any key to boot from disc" (Or something like that)

Does you BIOS see the optical drive at all?

You need to either enable the XMP profile in the BIOS or dial in both the speed, timings and voltage manually. If this is not done, the RAM will be unstable and the BIOS will put it at its default setting.

Yea I did enable xmp and it said that the target speed was updated to 1866 however when i switched out to EZ mode it still showed 1333 even after saving and restarting

Try dialling in the values your self. Sometime the XMP doesn't really like to play nice. You can find all the timings and the voltage on the side of the RAM sticks.

No problem. I'm here to help.

I'm not really familiar with the Asus EZ BIOS, since I always just use the advanced BIOS. But try letting the BIOS stay in advanced mode.

When you are in Windows, try checking the RAM speed with CPU-Z. Remember that the you have to double the RAM speed showed in CPU-Z, since you are using DDR (Double Data Rate) RAM. So you RAM speed should show as 933MHz.
