A short question

My external HDD suffered a dog bite, the disc inclosure is not damaged, only the board is and very slightly at the corner.

Is it possible to swap it and recover the data?

Thanks in advance

Which board is it? The enclosure sata to usb board or the harddrive controller board? (do you have a picture of it?) or is it's one of these God awful wd that is a custom hdd with native usb?

If it is just the sata to usb board, you should be able to just find another enclosure. If it is the harddrive controller, things get more difficult. (but not impossible)

And if I understood you, just replacing the bord will work.

Ugh, you have the worst case scenario. Custom controller board. You need to find an identical drive and there is a solid chance that you will need to desolder one of the chips and transplant it to the new board.
